Approximate total axial load on a typical first-floor interior column=
Ultimate Load * Tributary Area of the Column * no. of stories=
(1.6L + 1.2D ) * a * a * n

Internal Force in Bracing (SS)

While going through the Kaplan Questions and Answers, various forms of this question appear again and again.. I think it’d be a good idea to just memorize the solution.

d = width, h = height, P = lateral load, resultant force is in tension.
